Classic Pen Co. Case
Great Pen Co. Case In the past Classic Pen Company had been the ease maker of beat up pens and had net revenues over 20% of deals. In the course of the most recent five years Pen Co. chosen to begin creating red and purple pens. They require a similar essential creation innovation yet can be sold at 3% and 10% premium selling costs. Team lead Dennis Selmor is simply observing the money related outcomes and isn't content with the numbers. The primary issue that Pen Co. is confronting is their decrease in gainfulness. Despite the fact that the numbers show the red and purple pens are increasingly gainful exclusively (red 14. %, purple 18. 2%), the general profit for deals is declining (13. 5%). A second issue that Pen Co. has is the issue of expansion of asset costs. It requires a generous measure of time for physical changeover of creation starting with one shading pen then onto the next. Especially transforming from another shading to red. The last issue Pen Co. faces is the expansio n of costs identified with booking and buying exercises. The vast majority of the backhanded work expenses and PC framework costs are identified with planning and purchasing.Pen Companyââ¬â¢s declining benefit could be founded on the measure of the companyââ¬â¢s overhead. They have decided overhead to be 300% of direct work costs, when already the overhead expense was just 200%. The make-up of this overhead is roundabout work, incidental advantages, PC frameworks, apparatus, support, and vitality. The explanation behind such a huge increment in overhead is a direct result of the more popularity for aberrant expenses because of the expansion of increasingly mind boggling and concentrated items. While the expense for direct work per one unit is the equivalent for each shade of pen produced. The cost for backhanded work is comprised of three unique exercises: half for taking care of creation runs ($10,000), 40% for physical changeover or set up costs ($8,000), and 10% for keeping up records or parts organization ($2,000). The expense for PC frameworks is comprised of two exercises: 80% for creation run exercises ($8,000), and 20% for record keeping or parts organization ($2,000). At last the staying aberrant expenses are the hardware ($8,000), upkeep ($4,000), and vitality ($2,000).These are completely used to flexibly the machine with the ability to create the pens with an aggregate of $14,000. By and large Classic Pen Co. must enhance a few territories of interest so as to expand its benefit like what it had been before. They have to build their arranging and attempt to modify their present arranging framework and sorting out. They could put resources into more PCs to expand the measure of booking being finished by PCs and subsequently bring down their aberrant work costs. Finally I suggest they ought to put resources into some more machines to deliver the diverse shading pens in. This would have a significant expense of capital yet would in the end set asi de the organization cash in the work cost and time required for the physical changeover between hues Calculation Page Indirect LabourMachine Support Handling Production Runs = 10,000Machinery = 8,000 Set Up = 8,000Maintenance = 4,000 Parts Administration = 2,000Energy = 2,000 Fringe Indirect Labor = 8,000Total = 14,000 Computer SupportFringe for Direct LabourHandling Production Runs = 8,000Fringe = 8,000 Parts Administration = 2,000 Total Overhead = 60,000 Calculating Activity Rate Activities| Activity Cost| Cost Driver #| Calculation| Activity Rate| 1) Handling PR| 22,000| 150| 22,000/150| 146. 67/Run| 2) Set Up| 12,000| 526| 12,000/526| 22. 81/Hour| 3) Parts Admin. | 4,000| 4| 4,000/4| 1000/Product| 4) Machine Support| 14,000| 10,000| 14,000/10,000| 1. 4/Hour| 5) Fringe DL| 8,000| 20,000| 8,000/20,000| 0. 4/DL Cost| Total| 60,000| |

The Connection Between Stress and Stroke Risk
The Connection Between Stress and Stroke Risk Stress Management Effects on Health Print The Connection Between Stress and Stroke Risk By Elizabeth Scott, MS twitter Elizabeth Scott, MS, is a wellness coach specializing in stress management and quality of life, and the author of 8 Keys to Stress Management. Learn about our editorial policy Elizabeth Scott, MS Updated on June 24, 2019 How Stress Impacts Your Health Overview Signs of Burnout Stress and Weight Gain Benefits of Exercise Stress Reduction Tips Self-Care Practices Mindful Living Creative RF/ADAM GAULT/SPL/Getty Images Whatâs the connection between stress and stroke risk? According to the American Medical Association, roughly 80% or doctor visits are stress-related, but what about major, deadly conditions like stroke? Conventional wisdom has said that stress leads to stroke. Medical research has found some connections but has had a more difficult time proving that one clearly causes the other. However, a growing body of research seems to show a link. Hereâs a sample of what researchers have found: A University of Michigan study found that men who were more physiologically reactive to stress (as measured by high blood pressure) were 72% more likely to suffer a stroke.A recent study of 6553 Japanese male and female workers examined job stress levels and found that men (though not women) in jobs that involved high demands and lower levels of personal control (in other words, more stressful jobs) were at greater stroke risk, even after controlling for variables like age, educational attainment, occupation, smoking status, alcohol consumption, physical activity, and study area. One study measured levels of adaptation to stressâ"how well participants managed stress, and the associated risk. They found that those who had difficulty managing stress appeared to be at an increased risk of stroke. âOne interpretation,â they write of their results, âis that hypertensive men who chronically fail to find successful strategies in stressful situations are vulnerable to the damaging effe cts of stress and thereby at an increased risk of a future stroke.âWhat we know can be summed up with this, from researchers from The Copenhagen City Heart Study, who asked people about their stress levels and analyzed their health outcomes: âSelf-reported high-stress intensity and weekly stress were associated with a higher risk of fatal stroke compared with no stress. However, there were no significant trends, and the present data do not provide strong evidence that self-reported stress is an independent risk factor for stroke.â However, while stress is linked, but not firmly established as an independent risk factor for stroke, itâs important to note that stress is linked with several firmly established risk factors for stroke, such as high blood pressure, smoking, and obesity. (Read more about stress and weight gain and blood pressure.) In addition to potentially raising stroke risk, stress is associated with poorer outcomes for those who have already had a stroke, as well as their families. While more research needs to be done, there is enough evidence of a stress-and-stroke-risk relationship that I feel very comfortable recommend stress management strategies as one means of lowering risk. What Does It Mean - 1587 Words
ââ¬Å"Thinkingâ⬠has become so casual in our everyday lives that we sometimes take it for granted and never really think about the process of ââ¬Å"thinkingâ⬠. What does it mean to ââ¬Å"thinkâ⬠? What qualities do one need to meet to be considered ââ¬Å"capable of thinkingâ⬠? Being a human involves thinking and thinking involves experiences and emotions. In his paper, Turing questions these traits and brings in new theories to support his statement that machines are capable of thinking, using his imitation game as an example. I would have to disagree with these views and further disagree with the idea that the imitation game can be used to prove a machineââ¬â¢s intelligence. Human beings are Homo sapiens that have all the available and necessary traits one should have, such as the ability to ââ¬Å"feelâ⬠emotions, the ability to ââ¬Å"executeâ⬠those emotions, and the ability to ââ¬Å"sinâ⬠. To be a human means one lives with thoughts based on their previous experiences and emotions. Turingââ¬â¢s definition of a ââ¬Å"human beingâ⬠differs in that if something can be pre-programmed to ââ¬Å"thinkâ⬠then generally speaking, theyââ¬â¢re ââ¬Å"thinkingâ⬠. Turing tries to avoid defining thinking directly by arguing that if something appears to be intelligent, then how can we say it is not intelligent? Iââ¬â¢d have to refute this argument because I feel like Turingââ¬â¢s contradicting himself for the Lady Lovelaceââ¬â¢s Objection. The Concept Of Discourse Community Essay Example For Students
The Concept Of Discourse Community Essay In his article The Concept of Discourse Community, John Swales reports that a certain group of people can be described as a discourse community if that group could share some characteristics. In order to figure out whether or not those characteristics apply to a certain group of people, a methodology, which is a closer study of the behaviors and activities of the group, must be conducted throughout observations and interviews with some of the members. This paper conveys a study of a group of workers in Dayton Towers Luxury Apartments, and then relates, if possible, the results to the standards of discourse community that Swales describes in his article, followed by some explanations of what was learned from this experience. When I first entered the front office in Dayton Towers, the staff were smiling and welcoming the idea of being observed for a while.
